Galt, Sacramento County
Galt was named in 1869 for a town in Ontario, the former home of an early settler, and it incorporated in 1946. The Galt Market, a huge open-air flea and produce market run by the city, has drawn shoppers twice a week since the 1950s. In winter thousands of sandhill cranes gather in the wetlands of the Cosumnes River Preserve just to the northwest.
